The 2016 Middle East and North Africa Society of Air Safety Investigators Seminar was held in Rabat, Morocco on 20 and 21 September. The event was jointly organized by the DGAC Air Accident Investigation Bureau of Morocco under the leadership of Mr. Mbarek Lfakir and the MENASASI Board.
MENASASI would like to express its appreciation to Mbarek and the Board for their excellent arrangements. Mbarek has been a very active supporter of MENASASI since its foundation and the success of the 2016 Seminar is a great credit to him.
There were 92 attendees representing a cross section of MENA civil aviation organizations which included State air safety investigation authorities, airlines, aircraft manufacturers, and universities. Seventeen speakers addressed topics which included Air Safety Investigation in Morocco, Runway Excursion Event, Emergency Response Planning, An Operation like No Other – Safety Management at NetJets Europe and germanwings Accident – unforeseeable / unpreventable?
The attendees were provided with bio-hazard training which is approved by the American Heart Foundation. This training provided trainees with a certificate which is a requirement in many countries for investigators to work on an accident site that has been declared a bio-hazard site.
The arrangements for the Seminar were very well managed by the AAIB of Morocco and the attendees found the topics covered by the speakers to be interesting. There were many positive comments about the seminar venue and the attendees spent some of their free evenings enjoying the sights of Rabat.
The 2017 MENASASI Seminar and workshops will be held in Jeddah and Abdulelah Felemban, Director General of the Aviation Investigation Bureau of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, invited all members and those interested in joining to attend.
